Andes virus (ANDV) is a zoonotic RNA virus belonging to the Hantaviridae family and is recognized as one of the causative agents of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), a severe respiratory disease associated with high mortality rates. Unlike most hantaviruses, Andes virus is currently the only confirmed hantavirus capable of person-to-person transmission, making it a significant concern for infectious disease surveillance and outbreak research.

Clinical manifestations of Andes virus infection may initially include fever, chills, headache, myalgia, nausea, and vomiting, and can rapidly progress to pulmonary edema, respiratory failure, and shock in severe cases.

The Andes virus Real Time PCR Kit is designed for the qualitative detection of Andes virus RNA using real-time PCR technology. The assay supports research applications in molecular virology, pathogen surveillance, outbreak monitoring, and infectious disease research workflows. Samples can be obtained from human whole blood, serum, throat swabs, and nasopharyngeal swabs.
