Treponema pallidum, also known as Treponemia pallidum (TP), is the pathogen of syphilis. It belongs to treponema pallidum, and can cause serious health effects without adequate treatment. Syphilis is a kind of venereal disease with widespread popularity, of which people is the only infectious source and it can be divided into congenital syphilis and postnatal syphilis. The former is a pregnant woman with syphilis transplacental transmission to the fetus, the latter is postnatal infection. The average time between the acquisition of syphilis and the start of the first symptom is 21 days.
