overview

SA101 Rodent Treadmill is widely used in the research of physical fitness, endurance, motor injury, motor nutraceuticals, motor physiology, pharmacology, metabolic and cardiovascular research etc. It consists of the main unit, incorporating the drive, the shocker, the control unit with 7 Inch touch screen, the running belt enclosed within a chamber constructed of acrylic and aluminum. The chamber contains a shock grid, which serves as an aversive stimulus to motivate exercise. Two sizes are available in our company, smaller size for mice and a larger size for rats.

Advantages

Our rodent treadmills designed with Individual lane and programming, which is helpful for easy cleaning and accurate detection.
A variety of motion modes can be achieved, uniform speed, uniform acceleration, uniform deceleration, acceleration and deceleration mixed mode, etc.
Speed ranges from 0-100 meter /minute, resolution 0.01m/min.
Adopts IR sensor for effective pulse electric shock, which ensure avoiding blind area in detection.
Two kinds of exhaustion mode are available in our rodent treadmill, time and frequency.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the treadmill limited to applicable for 5 mice and 5 rats?

By default, the treadmill has 5 lanes for mice or rats. Customization of lanes is available according to researchers’ demand.
  • If we would like to do for both Rats and Mice, do we need to purchase 2 individual treadmill?

The treadmill can be used for both mice and rats. You don’t need to purchase 2 individual units; you only need two sets of covers and shock grids, one for mice and the other for rats. This design helps save cost.
  • Is the treadmill controlled by a touch screen that comes with the device? Or via a software on a PC?

The treadmill is controlled via a touch screen that comes with the device, and it can also be controlled via the software on a PC.
  • Can we program a specific session of treadmill in advance?

Yes, 8 protocol settings are included in the software, and sectional acceleration can be set. The last program is saved as the default screen display.
  • Do we need to set these 2 exhaustion modes together or either one will do? If these 2 modes ON together, for example, Warn is 3 and Shock is 30 sec, when the shock time reached to 30 sec, will the experiment stop before the warn reaches 3 times?

You do not need to set the 2-exhaustion modes at the same time. Usually, researchers do not do this. If both modes are turned on together, for example, Warn: 3 and Shock: 30 sec, when the shock time reaches 30 sec while Warn has not reached 3 times, the experiment will stop at the shock time before the Warn reaches 3.
  • When the electric stimulation stops, will there be any electric current on for all channels? And when will the electric shock resume after stopping?

It depends on two conditions: 1. Exhaustion mode: When the channel reaches the exhaustion mode, electric stimulation stops. 2. General mode: When the channel reaches the set experiment duration, electric stimulation stops. The electric shock will not resume until you start another new trial.
